Pursuit Bid Specialist.  Our Columbus, Ohio client has a direct hire opportunity available for a Pursuit Bid Specialist who will be responsible for pulling together and prioritizing resources from sales, engineering, delivery and marketing to drive a successful solution pursuit, qualification and proposal process.  They will also guide and coordinate the efforts of other proposal resources including consultants, and teaming partners to ensure maximum collaboration, timely adherence to schedule, high quality work products and overall proposal development effectiveness.

This individual will be expected to contribute to process improvement efforts in the pursuit and proposal phases.  This candidate must be a self-starter, who can work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.  

Essential Functions:

  • Management of Global Solutions engagement dashboard and pursuit activity for business development through qualification phase (contract) of the pursuit process.
  • Driving complete deal input from sales and solution architects to gain timely qualification for deals that are consistent with Global Solutions GTM strategy.
  • Developing and maintaining the proposal template, with input from relevant teams.
  • Gathering proposal deliverables from functional owners, preparing final proposal draft for approval, and distributing final proposal for distribution to customer (by sales or assigned function).
  • Providing ongoing feedback to Product Management / Marketing team to continuously improve competitive / market intelligence gathering (includes win/loss analysis), reference architecture libraries, and proposal design formats.
  • Participating in CRM implementation and reporting projects to drive appropriate engagement dashboard output and pipeline management reporting.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Oversee pursuit (deal) qualification activities (includes multiple deals at one time), coordinate and prioritize conflicting priorities in addition to being the voice to the executive team regarding status updates, scope changes and timelines per the engagement dashboard. 
  • Lead and generate responsive, compliant and compelling proposal responses to solicitations, RFPs, RFIs, RFQs and other assignments with deadlines.
  • Responsible for pursuit scope management, change management, insuring that the impacts of scope change (timeline and cost) are understood and documented, as well as managing proposal development.
  • Proactively monitor engagement dashboard performance and recommend go-to-market (GTM) improvement strategies along with Product Management and Sales team. 
  • Proactively review qualification activities and stay in synch with the Sales, Solutions Architects, and the Product Management team to identify and grow expansion opportunities within the business.  
  • Proofread proposal content, grammar, style, formatting; edit, organize, and pull attachments and exhibits for responses.
  • Consistently implement client brand messaging, including tone, style and theme, within all responses. Effectively leverage and promote the client value proposition.
  • Electronically archive all Proposals and assist in win/loss analysis.
  • Maintain response database for common answers to questions that can be leveraged to make the process more efficient.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: (education, experience level, knowledge, skills, designations/certifications).

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a technical field.
  • Two to three years of experience in writing and managing business development proposals or sales and marketing communications.
  • Minimum of two to five years’ experience as an engagement / pursuit manager, product manager or business development (sales and client interaction experience a plus).
  • Technology background, with experience in data center critical infrastructure and/or IT infrastructure.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, superior attention to detail, and ability to interface with internal stakeholders to ensure quality of proposal and timeliness of submission to client.
  • Demonstrated success in engagement / pursuit management, and / or defining, launching and selling technology products or solutions.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional global teams without formal authority.
  • CRM experience.
  • Must be able to travel at least 15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA and experience in technical field is considered beneficial
