Description:

Knowledge of computer hardware and software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Ability of maintain and monitor firewalls and other network defense technologies and defect abnormal behaviors

Knowledge of incident response procedures

Knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention systems, and ability to recognize attacks and network breaches

Proficiency in digital data gathering and analysis techniques, to include computers, networks, various operating systems, e-mail, and mobile devices

Knowledge of creating and maintaining case logs and generated case reports

  • Knowledge of complex technical IT and network systems

    Knowledge of malware and other threats

    Proficiency in analyzing complex systems and security assessment/audit results

    Familiarity with security policy frameworks and ability to apply appropriate framework

    Understanding of security controls that protect an organization’s systems and networks

    Knowledge of general governance, compliance, and audit concepts

    Ability of apply risk management principles, assessments, and metrics

    Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations that affect the organization 

    Your future duties and responsibilities
    Computer/Systems Security

    Ø Apply software security patches to operating systems and applications

    Ø Implement computer network security defenses

    Ø Assess a computer system’s security vulnerabilities using appropriate resources

    Ø Use standard software tools to detect attempted security breaches of computer systems
     Network Security Specialist

    Ø Work closely with IT staff to select and install firewalls and data encryption programs

    Ø Monitor networks for security breaches and analyze network traffic

    Ø Troubleshoot network performance issues

    Ø Provide network security guidance on critical vulnerabilities

    Ø Work with IT staff to maintain and adhere to business continuity and disaster recovery plans

    Ø Educate network users and other employees about computer and network security

    IT Security, Risk, and Compliance

    Ø Develop and publish security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines based on best practices and compliance requirements

    Ø Coordinate with IT staff to refine business impact analysis, business continuity, and disaster recovery procedures and documentation

    Ø Review control compliance on an ongoing basis

    Ø Develop strategy for ongoing controls and risk programs

    Ø Understand IT change processes

    Ø Develop risk management, metrics, and reporting

    Ø Assist in review of security controls

    § Information Security / Data Security Analyst 

    Ø Test existing security measures to ensure the integrity of the data, software, and systems

    Ø Reconcile findings from system assessments, audits, and vulnerability scans

    Ø Monitor, analyze, and solve security incidents

    Ø Analyze client systems, report on security and performance, and provide recommendations 

    Required qualifications to be successful in this role
    • 5 years experience in a job involving security, network engineering or system analysis preferred

    • Certifications recommended – CISSP, CEH, CISA, GSEC, ECSA, GPEN, SSCP

    • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, Cisco, Wireshark, Oracle, Terminal Services, Open SSL, Apache, Word, Excel, Windows NT, and Outlook, IPsec

    • Ability to be flexible, work under pressure and meet deadlines
