Senior Security Analyst. A contractor is needed in Columbus, Ohio for the role of Senior Security Analyst. With a moderate level of autonomy & decision making authority:

  • Assesses security and/or compliance of university systems, documents and develops solutions for known issues/enhancements, providing and presenting summary and detailed assessment reports to users, peers, stakeholders, and senior management
  • Acts as the Security lead for small to medium risk projects which evaluate, research and deploy policies, standards, compliance tools
  • Use basic penetration and ethical hacking tools and techniques to test control effectiveness and compliance (OSINT)
  • Responsible for assessing, monitoring and analyzing data, identifying security, risk or compliance issues and/or events, and documenting job aids for common issues or incidents
  • Identify threat events, vulnerabilities, likelihood, impact and risk
  • Work directly with staff in the development of risk treatment plans to mitigate risk and ensure compliance
  • Serve as project security lead for business critical security initiatives, integrating security into the SDLC and ensuring that solution design and implementation are consistent with the strategic security vision and the university security framework.

The breakdown of the role’s duties is as follows:

  • 60%: 
    • Interfaces with users to create complex IT security architecture, analysis and engineering solutions to translate user requirements to solutions
    • Identifies and conducts complex assessments of information security business practices, violations and infractions
    • Develops and implements remediation plans
    • Maintains security concepts including legal & regulatory compliance requirements as needed
    • Identifies, remediates and communicates issues and needs pertaining to the information security environment
    • Conducts research and development of new security technology, analysis and engineering best practices
    • Coordinates with staff to enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures
    • Reviews and analyzes new technological advances in information security products such as software, devices, etc.
    • Assists staff by providing security specifications for vendor products.
  • 20%: 
    • Responsible for Internal and cross-department team projects that range from small to medium in scope, risk and impact
    • Leads projects involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures and/or workflows needs associated with Information Security
    • Develops and Implements Information security policies, standards and procedures
    • Identifies training and development opportunities for less experienced staff
    • Creates and maintains security documentation and project governance
    • Conducts Security Training and Awareness Program activities.
  • 20%: 
    • Leads teams providing guidance and oversight on a project basis
    • Attends and participates in team meetings and other scheduled group discussions not associated with a project or other specific initiative
    • Provides status reports; Timekeeping; Travel
    • Participates on departmental committees on a volunteer basis and other administrative duties
    • Professional development; Networking with client partners.

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree
  • 5-8 years' IT experience, 4 years' security experience
  • Security roles demonstrating experience in one or more of the following domains: Data Security, Security Analysis, Network Security, Systems & Applications Security, Vulnerability Management, Security policy development, Security Training & Awareness, Identity & access management, EndPoint Security, Mobile/Cloud Security, Penetration Testing
  • Demonstrated data analysis capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to engage customers and determine customer priorities and requirements, ability to professionally conduct difficult conversations, demonstrated ability to influence/persuade stakeholders, superior written and verbal communications.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s
  • Security Certification(s): CISSP, CISA, CRISC, GIAC, OSCP or similar
  • Familiarity with ITIL and Project Management processes
  • Staff Management exposure
  • Demonstrated written and verbal presentation skills
