Sr Informatica/ Teradata Engineer

Lafayette LA

6 month contract with expectations of permanent employment

- As the production support lead will manage the day-to-day activities of the ODMS and EDI production support teams. Help build out of production support foundation and processes. Create a sustainable business production support communication channel for issues. Improve application monitoring. Create Service expectations from the Business. Drive innovation and efficiencies including the use of automation. 

Your future duties and responsibilities 
• Troubleshoot production issues within an Business Intelligence platform leveraging Teradata and Informatica skill sets 

• Troubleshoot production routines that are utilizing Teradata utilities and custom SQL 

• Troubleshoot production issues outside of Informatica where data is collected (Linux scripts, Ruby, REST API, etc.) 

• Respond to critical production outages and issues 

• Drive to root cause and resolution 

• Provide on-call support for after hours critical batch process issues 

• Ensure that service level agreements are met 

• Ensure support documentation and knowledge repository is kept current 

• Partner with Delivery Management to ensure proper alerts and error handling is part of design for any new or enhanced BI implementations 

• Partner with Delivery Management team to ensure a smooth transition from enhancement and project teams to production support team 

• Work collaboratively with Enterprise IT Support teams when troubleshooting production issues 

• Assess technical currency updates to determine impact to existing application and whether any remediation is required 

• Participate in Disaster Recovery testing when required 

• Troubleshoot Application Production issues 

• Monitors the production environment and responds to event alerts from production monitoring tools - Ignite, CA APM, Op Net, Site Scope, Team Quest 

• Ensure Service Level Agreements are met 

• Generate Metrics Reporting 

• Provide point-of-contact with client on day-to-day activities 

• Interact with vendors and business partners 

• Manage and facilitate the prioritization of production break fix items and baseline activities 

• Communicate the status of all production problems and upcoming maintenance to business partners, stakeholders and upper management 

Required qualifications to be successful in this role 
• Strong design skills within the data management domain 

• Must have: 5+ years of current experience of development using Informatica, PowerCenter, 

• Strong Teradata coding and utilities experience 

• 5+ years of ETL development using Informatica in an Teradata or Oracle Unix environment 

• Proficient in writing SQL – Simple/Medium/Complex SQL’s 

• Solid experience in ETL ,Data analysis, and Performance tuning - 3-5 years 

• Ability to write Unix Shell scripts integrating SQL, Perl or Python as needed to solve the problem - 3-5 years 

• Strong Analytical and Problem solving skills 

• Experience working in fast paced environment is preferred 

• Must be technical and hands on capable 

• Must have a Automation mindset 

• Strong attention to detail
